03 bose system, is it the head unit that sucks? or the speakers?

So we've concluded the the bose system in the 03 Z sucks, what i'm wondering now is... is it the head unit/amp that is the the problem? Or is it the speakers... or all of it!? The reason i'm asking is... i like the look of the stock ...
